Jennings O’Donovan as one of Irelands leading Consulting Engineers on the development of onshore wind energy projects considered it most important to make a submission to the council on the proposal in the Draft County Development Plan 2018-2024 that there be “A set back distance of ten times the tip height of proposed turbines from residential properties and other centers of human habitation”.

To ensure that wind energy developments meet the requirements and standards set out in the DEHLG Wind Energy Development Guidelines 2006.

In making the submission, Jennings O’Donovan contend that the proposal will be overly restrictive on the viability of many potentially suitable wind farm sites; that the imposition of such a definite restriction is unnecessary and does not allow the benefit of proper assessment of the impacts of wind turbines on nearby houses, specifically with regard to noise, shadow flicker and visual impact.
