Creating a modern, environmentally sustainable building in a confined site along the N15, a major thoroughfare. Along with performance theatre, expansive foyer, office space and full 360 degree viewing area, Butt Hall also sports an underground basement the full length of the building.
The Glasshouse Hotel project consisted of a multi-storey (up to 8 storeys) hotel and apartment building over a 3 storey basement car park, on the site of an existing hotel on the banks of the Garavogue River in Sligo City Centre. The striking architectural characteristic of this building, which towers above the river, confirms the challenge presented to our in-house Structural Design Team.
The project involved the design of a reinforced concrete frame hotel extension including basement and ground floor car parks. The design included a reinforced concrete frame from basement to first floor with twin wall construction from first floor to roof.
The purpose of the project was to provide the College with a modern educational facility, which would act as a Nursing School. The project brief included the provision of Clinical Skills rooms, classrooms, a Library and Lecture Theatre. A site selection process resulted in the development being sited in an undeveloped area of the existing campus, on the shore of Lough Gill which is a Special Area of Conservation.
The project will involve the demolition of existing buildings to facilitate the construction of a new 7,000m2 educational building including classrooms, sports hall and science labs.
This project consisted of the construction of a new 1,112m2 aircraft hangar at Sligo Airport comprising steelwork frame and cladding, extension to existing new apron and construction of new taxiway to existing runway.
