COMPANY PROFILE

History and Culture

It's hard to imagine that in 1950, a professional engineering consultancy would not alone choose to set up offices in Sligo - on the periphery of north western Europe - but also conduct work on an international scale!

Austin Jennings established the practice in 1950 and was joined by Derry O'Donovan in the 1960's. Under their guidance, the business grew and aquired a very high reputation in Ireland and abroad.

As a result, the business expanded in 1974 and became registered with international agencies such as the:-

  • United Nations
  • European Union
    • European development fund
    • MEDA
    • PHARE
    • TACIS
  • Republic of Iraq
  • African Development Bank
  • Libyan Arab Republic
  • Yemen of Lesotho
  • The World Bank

In 1989, Jennings O'Donovan and Partners (JOD&P) became an off-shoot of the established business to focus on the Irish market while JOD served its international clients. JOD&P was spearheaded by Frank McAleenan and Rory McLaughlin up until June 2003 when David Kiely and Conor McCarthy took full ownership of this business.

David and Conor set about restructuring the business, training its personnel and generally preparing the business for a more competitive future.

In April 2004, Jennings O'Donovan & Partners secured a significant share of the overseas engineering consultancy, Jennings O'Donovan. Through this agreement, Jennings O'Donovan & Partners is now also linked with Massachusetts-based engineering and scientific business, Coler & Colantonio, Inc.

The fact that JOD&P not only survived but thrived and competed at the highest level across the world for over half a century is testament to the reputation and strength of what Jennings O'Donovan & Partners has to offer.
